Independent
Lab Testing
The Bio-Fighter® Triad has undergone independent lab
analysis to show the effectiveness of UV-C light in
controlling microorganisms. Serratia marcescens was used as
the test bacteria in testing. Serratia marcescens is
commonly used in laboratory testing and produces a red
pigment that is easily visible on a petri dish.
Results
The lab testing performed by Universal Air Technologies
tested the Bio-Fighter® Triad models 1S20 and 2S20
ability to control airborne bacteria. Serratia marcescens
was introduced into the airstream of a 2.75 sq. ft. duct
with airflow through duct of 300 FPM and 825 CFM. Ten test
samples were taken with UV-C on and ten samples taken with
UV-C off.
The Triad 1S20 test results show that with UV-C OFF, an
amount of 220.5 Serratia marcescens survived to the sampling
plate. With the Triad 1S20 UV-C turned ON, only 9.5 Serratia
marcescens survived to the sample plate, a reduction of 95.692%.
The Triad 2S20 test results show that with UV-C OFF, an
amount of 273.5 Serratia marcescens survived to the sampling
plate. With the Triad 2S20 UV-C turned ON, only 2.6 Serratia
marcescens survived to the sample plate, a reduction of 99.049%.
